1859 Jesup House first hotel was built. In 1864 the Empire House was built where the Citizen Herald is today, and later became the Julian Hotel. In 1874 Revere House opened which became the Evergreen Hotel. In 1883 Pennsylvanian Hotel began and became the Central Hotel on Young Street by old Farmer's State Bank. Clifton Hotel established in 1887 on Sixth Street by Neverman Chemical. In 1929 the Evergreen Hotel was torn down. Siloam Lodge was over Farmers State Bank in 1928. Clover Leaf Motel was built in 1953 on North Sixth Street across from Jesup School. X-L Motel North began on Sixth Street in 1953, then moved to South Street. Eagle Inn was on South Street in 1956. In 1961 Cloverleaf Motel moved to South Street.
